What I love most about wedding videography is that every video is a chance to try new things. When I spoke to Heidi and Zubin about their video before the wedding, I asked them what was most important to them and they gave me these requests: they wanted the video to be about their friends and family, not just them; they wanted the video feature nature; they didn’t want somber music; and Heidi wanted absolutely no makeup shots 😉

What begins as a set of challenges becomes a source of inspiration. With each creative decision, I used a new set of guidelines in deciding what to do, and the video that was made reflects something that none of us would have created on our own, without that sense of collaboration. This approach is what makes my work so rewarding and why I say that each video is unique – it’s not just a tagline, but something that deeply informs the way that I work as Unified Cinematic.

There are certain couples who just make my job easy. Danny and Ivy were one such couple – fun, spontaneous, outgoing, and complete naturals in front of the camera. Spending the day with them and filming their wedding at Willie Green’s Organic Farm in Monroe was so much fun that I actually wished it had gone on later!

Teaser Edit (3 minutes)

I had so much fun working with Hazel and Daniel this year – a truly exciting couple! When we met for our consultation, I knew their wedding was going to be a blast not only because of their 510 area code (what is it about Californians having fun weddings?), but also because Hazel and Daniel really are those sunny, silly, fun-loving people in real life.

With every wedding, I try to create a film that is unique to the couple. When I first met Lydia and Matt, just one week before their wedding (a last minute booking – better late than never!), I knew I was going to have fun creating their film. We met for Sunday morning coffee and as I heard the excitement in their voices building about their big day, I could already start to see their video in my head. Beautiful lakeside vistas, rows of grapevines in the sun, wine country, late night dancing… all of these came together perfectly in this truly modern Washington state wedding.

Traditional Meets Present Day at Kellie and Tom’s Wedding at Belle Chapel

I first met Kellie and Tom about a year ago when they began looking for a wedding videographer. We met up one afternoon for coffee and I could tell right away that they were going to be a fun couple to work with. Our initial consultation turned into a two hour conversation about anything and everything, and I was thrilled when they decided to work with Unified Cinematic. I love it when clients feel more like friends!

The humor and love that these two have for one another was clear throughout their wedding day. Belle Chapel provided an excellent backdrop for their traditionally styled but truly modern ceremony. The whole wedding was less about formality than it was about celebrating with their closest friends and family, and the intimate and almost rustic setting of the old, historic church brought everyone together. You could feel the history of celebration and joy within the walls.

With so much to work with, I was really able to enjoy the creative process while editing their film. When I really get to know a couple, I’m able to create a film that matches their individual style. From our initial chats all the way up to the wedding rehearsal, it was a delight working with these two.

Unified Cinematic Videography films Erika and Scott’s wedding in Kirkland, Washington

“Oh. My. Goodness!!! Scott and I just watched the video and there are no words. SO amazing. SO perfect!!! With tears in my eyes I can’t thank you enough!!! You did an absolutely incredible job. Far above what I could’ve even expected. Wow. Thank You.”
-Erika

When I first talked to Erika on the phone, I could tell that she was going to be someone I would love working with. She had a trust in my creative vision, loved my previous work, and wanted me to direct a film with no set requirements – a completely blank slate for whatever I thought would work best. It’s not every day that I get that kind of opportunity, and I was happy to take it.

Erika and Scott’s wedding was one of the most unique weddings of 2015, and definitely the smallest I’ve ever filmed. Having their wedding at home with only their closest friends and family provided its own set of challenges to me, but I always enjoy finding new and creative ways of telling a story, and lucky for me, they were both naturals in front of the camera.

Heartfelt Vows and Longtime Friendships at Tarin and Nick’s Wedding in Tacoma

One of the things I love about filming weddings is that it affords me a quick glimpse into a defining moment of a relationship – a relationship that has years of backstory, love, meaning, and friendship. Such was the case with Tarin and Nick as I heard the stories told during the ceremony of how they met, how they came to know one another, and how they plan to spend their lives together, all officiated by the very friend who introduced them years ago.

Tradition and spontaneity play well together in this unique wedding filmed in Tacoma, Washington. Our day started downtown at the Hotel Murano, followed by an outdoor ceremony at Pt. Defiance, photographs by the Washington State History Museum and the Chihuly Museum of Glass, and a “classic” twist on the reception at LeMay – America’s Car Museum. We see all the makings of traditional wedding with a modern twist in the town where the two owned their first home together.
